The special envoy of the United Nations to Libya, Martin Kobler, has seized the opportunity of commemorating the international day of human rights, 10th of December, to call for putting an end to human rights violation in Libya.
“The political agreement includes strong provisions concerning human rights that is a good base to start rebuilding the institutions of a united country that respects law and human rights”, Kobler said, “I call on all involved Libyan parties to respect human rights”.
The Chief of Human rights and transitional justice and law sovereignty in UNSMIL, Claudio Kordani, asserted on the mission’s continuous efforts to document human rights situation in Libya and to intervene in individual case whenever it is possible.
“We are helping the courageous initiative of Misrata and Tawergha”, he hailed the initiative considering it an example to others in Libya.
Libyans have been caught in the middle of an all-out war between rivals and armed groups in Libya. Libya has been recording low degrees in the human rights tests with high numbers of refugees, displaced, internally displaced, assassinations, and kidnappings across the nation.
