The Algerian foreign ministry denied the abduction of three nationals in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, that some media outlets reported.
The ministry said in a statement on Monday that it took all necessary steps after Khatla family informed it of the abduction of 3 family members in Tripoli who, later, appeared to be arrested.
“All necessary measurements were taken in accordance with the consulate”, the statement read.
The ministry confirmed that “3 nationals weren’t abducted, but arrested for investigation in a lawsuit connected to the public law. The ministry will follow up the case in protection for the Algerian nationals abroad”.
Khatla family reported to the foreign ministry that a woman and her mother and brother were abducted by rebels affiliated crime-fighting group. The Algerian consulate in Libya was closed months ago.
