Under the theme “When Media Makes Peace: the Roles and Responsibilities of Media During Conflict”, Libyan media owners, and managers are meeting in Madrid.
Tuesday 27 September 2015 was the second day of the four day meeting that started on Monday.
According to the UNSMIL website, they highlighted the challenges their outlets are facing, from security threats, funding issues and human resources management, as well as technical support and lack of national legislations regulating the profession.
They also worked on developing a draft of a future Code of Conduct for managers of these institutions.
The meeting is part of UNESCO’s continuing efforts to reinforce the capacity of Libyan media to contribute to reconciliation and peace in the country as well as to promote freedom of expression and independent media.
