Arab and western countries called, in a joint statement, the Libyans to immediately adopt the political agreement suggested by the United Nations on 9th of October. The agreement features forming a Government of National Accord, GNA to take Libya out of the ongoing chaos.

“Foreign ministers of Algeria, Germany, Emirates, Spain, America, France, Italy, Morocco, Qatar, Britain, Tunisia, and Turkey, as well as the High Representative of the European Union’s foreign policy call all parties of the Libyan talks to adopt the political agreement immediately the UN special envoy to Libya, Bernardino Leon, negotiated about,” the statement, issued in Paris, said.

Signatories of the statement also established readiness to “work with a GNA, in response to its request, to support it in fighting terrorism, especially Islamic State, IS, and Ansar Al-sharia groups”.

“We call all participants to take this opportunity to stop instability through the political agreement and guarantee its complete application without any modifications,” the statement read.

In efforts to end the crisis, Leon announced a formation of the GNA to end the conflict over power which resulted in killing of thousands in over than a year. A new transitional period is to start on 20th of October, according to the agreement.

Controversy is still ongoing among rivals in Libya. Advocates of rejection in both parties, the General National Congress, GNC, and the House of Representatives, HoR, and others are still active, there are the advocates of dialogue on both and other sides, and the Libyans still wait for the result of the dialogue process which reached suggestions of the new government.
