The American ambassador to Libya, Deborah K. Jones said that, Libya needs a national unity government to fight Islamic State (IS) group, meet people’s needs and deal with crises Libya witnessed.
“It is the time to complete the agreement,” Jones said to the press. Jones also expressed gratitude for working with “Libyans of good-will and courage,” with her term as ambassador coming to end.
State department announced that ambassador Peter Body was nominated as successor to Jones in Libya whose term ended last September.
Jones hailed the efforts of United Nations special envoy to Libya, Bernardino Leon, to reach a final agreement between Libyan parties participating in the political process.
Jones asserted on; “the international community’s commitment to support the next government and the Libyans. “I believe in the Libyans’ ability to achieve their goals and build a civil democratic state under the rule of law, I am proud I was a part of the political process and proud of all participants from the Libyan parties,” she said.
