Descalzi: “eni” won’t Leave Libya

Chief Executive Officer of the Italian “eni”, Claudio Descalzi, said that the company won’t leave Libya under any circumstances, stressing that “eni” stayed in Libya after Qaddafi was ousted, and its strategy will not be changed and there is no intention for leaving.

According to Italian news agency (AGI), Descalzi said during “for Libya” conference, organized by (soul24) newspaper “the company achieved many oil and gas discoveries in Libya, and it is capable of doubling the production, which would be very positive for Europe”.

Descalzi added that “eni is waiting for what will come out of political negotiations carried out in Libya”, confirming that the company is very optimistic with the efforts to reach a solution to the Crisis in Libya.

Italian Foreign Ministry earlier announced, after the closure of its embassy in Libya in 15 February, that the situation in the country is very difficult, and called its citizens to immediately leave Libya.
