IS holds inspection campaign in houses South Sirte

Militants affiliated to the Islamic State (IS) group held a house inspection campaign in South Sirte, in search for weaponry, according to local sources. The act was held in AL-Gharbiat village inhibited by Al-Furjan tribe.

Local sources told Middle East News Agency, MENA, that the inspection aimed at collecting weapons and ammunition, and searching for wanted people by the group.

IS group captured military personals while sieging Abu-Hady area (20 km South Sirte), and forced them to move to one of the group’s strongholds.

IS controlled Sirte after several battles. The biggest battle was a massacre undertaken in neighborhood 3, last August. The group then took over important governmental buildings and announced Sharia courts in the city.
