A heavy firefight broke out over the weekend in the eastern city of Benghazi, between forces loyal to the House of Representatives (HoR) and Islamic State (IS) militants, according to Reuters; at least six people have been killed.
At least 6 people were killed, and ten were wounded during the clashes on Saturday, in the western side of Benghazi. The retired General Khalifa Haftar’s Libyan Army forces were bombarding locations, saying that he was fighting Islamic State Militants.
The fight had involved artillery shelling and air strikes all over the city. The United Nations and U.S. and European envoys urge the parties to finalise the agreement as soon as possible, to form a national unity government to tackle these issues in unison.
