The Council of Elders and Notables in Libya (CENL), which consists of representatives of the various communities and tribes in Libya, warned young people to not rush to Sirte to take up arms against the Islamic State (IS) in the city, “unless it is composed with the powers and the army forces, and taking into account fitting military choices including general preparation.”

On Tuesday, the council issued a statement, which focused on the significance of the “progressing dialogue to reach accord and form a National Unity Government” they also cautioned all political stakeholders of their obligation to not delay the process any more.

The Council of Elders and Notables in Libya has also called for Libyans to finalize the dialogue process before they think about waging a war with IS, they said that once the National Unity Government is formed, Libya can then begin combatting the issues concerning security. The Council also called for a census of all Libyans, both inside and outside of the country, this count should be carried out under supervision of the UN.
