Libyan officials say that The Shura Council of Mujahedeen in Darna, a rival group of Islamic State affiliate, has ousted IS affiliate from the eastern city of Darna. During the firefight, 39 militants from both sides have died. At least 26 IS fighters were killed on Wednesday night, when The Shura Council of Mujahedeen in Darna attacked the group. Medical officials say 13 council fighters were killed and 20 were wounded. Darna was IS’s stronghold for just over a year, but since then IS lost its control.

The council has said that the attack on Wednesday night has ousted the last of the IS affiliate group from the city centre. The council plans to chase out the remaining IS fighters, who are believed to have fled to the nearby mountain suburb of al-Fatayah.
