UNESCO hosts training programme for Libyan media


Associations, owners and chiefs of Libyan media outlets are in Madrid to discuss the current status of the Libyan media, and ways to enhance professionally and offer a positive contribution to end the chaos in Libya.

The UNESCO sponsored training course, will have participants from 13 media organisations, they will focus on the roles and the various responsibilities of the media during times of emergency.

Many issues will be discussed by the TV channels, press and internet representatives; amongst the issues will be the effects of negative discourse. According to UNSMIL web, the Director of the UNESCO office in Libya said, “Promoting the professional and moral standards should be viewed as a priority by directors and owners of the media outlets” he also emphasised that the UNESCO programmes aim at supporting the Libyan media in distinguishing the most ideal approaches to practice proficient measures in various media outlets.
